How It Started…

The Wine Boutique is an online retail of wine and gin established as an of-shoot of an online Gin retailer, ‘The Gin Boutique’, exclusively based in Canberra, Australia wanting to build a presence in Sydney, Australia.

My work in the wine industry established strong networks which led to my being approached for the project and utilising my capabilities technical and design.

Skills Utilised

  • SQL
  • Google Suite/Excel
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Facebook business
  • Python
  • Microprocessor implementation

What I did

I was tasked with rebranding a duplicate of ‘The Gin Boutique’s’ website, building the database of products and integrating that database with that website. I established a social media presence with a customised, automated media and engagement platform.

I integrated The Wine Boutique logo into Instagram ‘Storey highlights’ icons. I created all content for the social platforms including:

  • Copy for all media and website posts
  • Photography
  • Instagram wall themes
  • Instagram cross tile implementation
  • Facebook Branding for Posts images

SQL

Integrate new Product

As 'The Wine Boutique' was born from 'the Gin Boutique', a major update to the entire sites product offering was required to shift the focus from Gin to Wine.
This was done by bulk data injection to the database requiring good database management skills with SQL.

Instagram

Implementation

I built the Instagram presence integrating branding to the highlight reel and managing content.

How Its Going

What I Learnt

Drawing on skills from the technical helped in migrating databases while building new product portfolios in bulk on the remote server while maintaining periodic backups for data continuity.

Social media can be automated successfully to an extent. While growing a genuine follower base, automation of some aspects through Python is very helpful. This automation helped positively with minimising response times. This also helped me multitask maintaining engagement with a community of wine and gin lovers while I could continue content generation. This would highlight engagement requiring my attention.

The importance of scheduling systems and coordinating for an audience to maintain interest across different platforms to ensure variety of content.

This increased my understanding of the tools those working in marketing and media use for their trade and the variety of tools businesses require to function. My technical ability certainly helped multitask these tools giving me insight to how many opportunities exist in the technical sphere to help different enterprises.
